Prospective Teaching Fellows
Appalachian State University has a long and proud tradition of preparing teachers. The Reich College of Education is widely recognized as one of the premier teacher education programs in the nation. Many of North Carolina's best teachers, principals, and superintendents are Appalachian graduates and continue to support the program by hiring Appalachian graduates.
The Appalachian Teaching Fellows Program was one of the first in the state and has always been among the largest and most popular. It provides academically and culturally enriching experiences that extend well beyond regular college offerings. The program prides itself in creating a nurturing family atmosphere and provides activities to help students develop strong and lasting relationships with each other and with the faculty. A wide range of special seminars, field trips, and service activities are provided for Fellows to help improve their readiness for work in the public schools of the state. The opportunities and experiences provided encourage the development of leaders and decision makers as well as visionary thinkers and risk takers.
